Box Elder Bugs
What are Box Elder bugs?
Box elder bugs are black insects with red or orange markings on their bodies. They are typically about half an inch in length and are primarily attracted to box elder trees, although they can also infest other types of maple and ash trees. These bugs are not a health threat but can be a nuisance. When crushed, they release an unpleasant smell. In the fall, they often search for overwintering sites and may congregate in warm spots before migrating indoors to overwinter in insulated cracks and crevices.
